From Los Angeles, I'm starting my second course in the MS International Marketing Management program with Boston University. I earned a BS in Business Administration in 2004 from San Francisco State University and I've been working mostly as an account manager in the advertising industry. Although I could have, should have earned a masters years ago, I'm really thrilled to be in school right now. This is an exciting time to be learning about the business world. So much has changed, so much is changing, and so much will change that I'm hoping upon receiving my degree its all still relevant!
Before earning a business degree, I earned a fashion design certificate and worked in the Los Angeles apparel industry for about five years. I was fortunate to have worked with good people that helped my career in design to flourish. And although I enjoyed seeing my creations inside department stores, my interest in business management grew stronger. So, I decided to get an education at San Francisco State University.
I loved living in San Francisco, especially not having to drive everywhere. My time there was very productive. I graduated, worked for a non-profit, and spent my time volunteering, riding my bike, and hiking Mt. Tamalpais. I was there for three years and can see myself going back permanently...in the future.
I've been back in Los Angeles for nearly six years focused on my marketing career. These days I enjoy learning about new tools and techniques through webinars and following the development of Facebook, MySpace (currently reading Impotence In The Boardroom: MySpace Caught An STD) and other social networks as they continue to add another dimension to advertising and marketing. As for the international part of my education, I'm hoping to study in Mexico when the opportunity opens up.
I should also mention this is my first time blogging. I'm really hoping that its something I can continue to work on after this course is over. I look forward to reading everyone's blogs and to your comments. Now, let me see how this thing works...

Great blog Claudia. I went to UCSC and lived in Santa Cruz/Monetery/Carmel for 8 years. I've also spent a fair amount of time in LA on busiess (I worked on the audio system at Staples Arena) and I have to say, I prefer Northern CA. How about you? Which do you prefer, San Francisco or LA?
ReplyDeleteDarryl, this Angeleno prefers the city of San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteThank you both for your comments.
